High-quality anti-corrosive coatings require strict control across surface preparation, coating selection, application methods, and environmental conditions to ensure performance meets design specifications.
Surface Preparation: This is a critical step for achieving high-quality coatings. Steel surfaces must be sandblasted to meet Sa2.5 standards, with surface roughness controlled between 40 and 70 μm. The quality of surface preparation directly affects coating adhesion and corrosion protection performance.
Coating Selection: Choose the appropriate coating type and system based on corrosion conditions, required service life, and operating environment. Select certified products from reputable manufacturers to ensure consistent, reliable quality.
Construction Process: Follow the product data sheet and construction specifications strictly. Control parameters such as mixing ratio, viscosity, and application temperature; use appropriate application methods (brushing, rolling, spraying); manage dry film thickness per coat to avoid excessive or insufficient buildup.
Environmental Control: Construction temperature should generally be between 5°C and 40°C, with relative humidity not exceeding 85%. The substrate surface temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point. Avoid construction in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or high winds.
Quality Inspection: Conduct coating thickness and adhesion tests during construction. Upon completion, perform comprehensive visual inspections and performance tests to ensure the coating meets design requirements.
